SEO Booster: Social Signals on Steroids

You'll be left out in the cold for your SEO effort if you don't embrace the social signal in 2015 and beyond. Why is this so important? It has everything to do with how Google sees the traffic and how content is generated online these days.

When the internet took off in the late 90's, most traffic was generated via searches and websites. If you observe how the traffic is generated today, it is a vastly different world. Most news and content is shared via social platforms first even before they are published on websites. Google recognizes this and uses the metrics gathered from social media sites to measure your site's ranking factor. Does this mean you should start getting more 'likes' and twits? Before jumping to any conclusion, we need to first look at how Google uses the signals from social media sites. This is the part where many SEO marketers get it wrong.

Let's look at Google's official position.

According to Google, the number of followers or likes do not affect the rankings. What's interesting is that Google treats social media pages just like any other indexed pages. If this is the case, what's important is where you place the links and how you place them. We can leverage social media sites' authority as a strategic SEO advantage. Some of the most visited and popular sites are social media sites. From SEO point of view, they naturally earn Google's trust from pure algorithmic perspective. They are without a doubt, high authority sites. With this given knowledge, what then becomes important is the amount of presence you have using these high authority sites, not the number of twits or likes.

Based on our analysis, Google has shifted its weight from popularity to authority signal. The evidence became clear when we extensively analyzed the sites that are listed on the first page of Google. As you move up to highly competitive niches, you'll notice that higher ranking sites have links from authority sites and almost always have strong social media presence.

In order to embrace this important trend, we have initiated a massive overhaul of our platform. We are currently creating links on high authority sites like Tumblr. All the actives will get a dedicated account on Tumblr. We are working on adding additional high authority sites in the upcoming months. We believe embracing both social signals and signals from blog links will present a stronger off-page SEO package.

Since we are creating them manually and we have tens of thousands to create, you'll see the positive effects of our efforts in the upcoming months. The admin area will reflect this change as well. We'll do our best to include as much social signals as possible within the package you already have. We will, however, be adding an upgraded service as an add-on soon for those who want stronger signals.

We have been looking for social link building platforms to accomplish what we wanted but came up with empty handed. We have been testing popular social link building services like Drip Revolution and came to a conclusion that these services add little or no SEO value. After having spent tens of thousands of dollars on them testing and talking to the owners, we realized their SEO foundation was minimal.

After months of research, we've decided to create our own version based on what we have envisioned. Below are some of the pages we have created. Every effort has been made to make the posts non-spammy.

Please note that despite our effort, link building isn't and should not be the panacea for your SEO efforts. Please keep up with the proper on-page optimization along with site authority building using press releases.

We are excited to implement this strategy and we believe this effort will be beneficial for everyone using our service.
